Hyperinflation or Stagflation Can Occur with Rapid Speed
The comments below are an edited and abridged synopsis of an article by Bruce Wilds
Life is full of facts we don’t know or have simply forgotten. In a comment on a recent article, a writer encouraged the curious to search ‘hyperinflation during the Weimar Republic.’
Some of the details to be discovered are surprising. Germany came out of WWI with most of its industrial power intact; still, inflation destroyed the currency. This confirms that inflation can stem from a growing lack of faith in a currency, or all currencies, rather than just a lack of available goods. As inflation takes hold, the goods available for sale often contract, as sellers retreat from the market awaiting higher prices, which creates a self-feeding loop.
Up for discussion: Hyperinflation can hit at shocking speed, and the face of hyperinflation.
