Robin Cornwell Appointed to BMG Group Inc. Board of Directors
Markham, ON, October 31, 2017 – BMG Group Inc. (BMG) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Robin Cornwell to its Board of Directors.
Robin has an extensive background in the Canadian investment banking industry spanning over thirty years, with particular expertise in the financial service sector. As a research analyst, his work has included research on over fifty publicly traded financial services companies, including mutual funds, chartered banks, finance companies, investment counselors and trust and loan companies. He has also managed several of Canada’s largest financial services sector merger and acquisition assignments, and has directed numerous new issue prospectus offerings. He has been associated with numerous advisory assignments, including Power Financial Corporation, AGF Management Limited, Clarington Corporation, HSBC Canada and the Toronto-Dominion Bank.
As an investment banker, Robin has acted in the capacity of Director of Research on three occasions, and Director of Capital Markets on two occasions. He has held senior positions in several major Canadian investment companies, including Director and Senior Partner with Gordon Capital Corporation and Managing Director of Laurentian Bank Securities. He currently holds the position of President and CEO of Catalyst Equity Research Inc. Robin has also been Chief Advisor to the Government of Canada, House of Commons, Standing Committee of Finance, Trade and Economic Affairs on two occasions, namely:
- Inquiry into “Bank Profits.”Recommendations from this Inquiry were focused on the loan loss accounting and reporting practices of the Canadian chartered banks. Many of these recommendations were subsequently incorporated into the Bank Act.
- Inquiry into the “Status of Foreign Banks in Canada.”Recommendations focused on increasing the powers and status of the foreign banks in Canada.
Robin holds a B.A. (Hons) Business and Economics degree, as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto. He has also obtained the Partners, Directors and Officers, Branch Manager and Securities Advisor designations within the securities industry in Canada.
